Smita Mazumdar Rajaram is a graduate in Political Science from LSR, Delhi University and a Masters in International Relations from JNU. She has been working in the social and development sectors for more than a decade now and has been involved in assignments in the domains of MCH, child survival, human rights, social security and health insurance, substance abuse, road safety among others. She has engaged with organisations such as UNICEF, UNODC, CARE, PSI, India, WHO, India, iOWH, and others, in assignments of Behavior Change Communications, Documentation, Public Relations, Research, Project Appraisal, Cause and Brand Positioning, Strategy, etc. She has undertaken research projects in human rights and comparative socio-demographic studies with organisations such as the Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace, funded by the Dalai Lama Foundation and Centre for Studies on National Security (CSNS).

Smita has also been actively engaged in writing and theatre on issues that are close to her heart, such as women’s empowerment and rights, among others. She has been providing her creative writing expertise to various clients, in creating their reports & in documenting of projects. She is an active performer on the Delhi theatre stage, acting for the past 13 years and she combines her love, interest and ability in theatre, many a times in her work, especially during her communication training workshops and capacity building workshops on various issues.
